Dr. John Hart - 2006
The Ewing Halsell President’s Council Distinguished Chair
Dr. John Hart was the recipient of the fifth endowment from the President's Council and is recognized for Excellence in Biosciences Research. His recent discovery, relating to the proteins found in ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease, stands to have an enormous impact globally, contributing important new scientific knowledge that holds great promise in the area of neurodegenerative diseases.
The endowment was made possible by a $500,000 matching gift from the Ewing Halsell Foundation, which allowed the President’s Council for the first time in its history to award a $1 million endowment.
